Press release: Time to get tough with discarded stuff!

tvc-screenshotMEDASSET’s new television public service announcement in relation to its “Clean Seas: Swear to Care” campaign has been sending out a timely reminder to all of us, as we head to the beach to relax and cool down, that at the same time we need to step up… to our responsibilities! The new short film was launched on TV channels throughout Greece from the 25th of July and has been regularly airing since then.

The campaign’s ambassadors, Antonis Tsapatakis, Tamta, Chronis Damalas and Nikoletta Ralli each put their heart and soul into telling their fans about the serious consequences of marine pollution (both at sea and along the shoreline), supporting the effort to protect the lives of all sea creatures.

The production was financially supported by the Representation of the European Commission in Greece.

Mr Panos Carvounis, Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Greece, made the following statement: “Our country is surrounded by seas. In protecting coastal, marine, and deep water environments we are protecting the future of our children. It also makes business sense since, as a country, we depend economically on our seas and related tourism activities”.

The aim of the campaign “Clean Seas: Swear to Care” is to mobilise the public to become active in reducing marine pollution while at the same time it underpins the values of responsibility and respect for others. The public’s individual pledges are gathered and displayed on the campaign’s website at www.katharesthalasses.gr .

Τhe PSA will also be playing on screens throughout the Athens Metro and suburban railway lines, at 120 branches of Alpha Bank, and at many private hospitals in Greece – via Intelligent Media’s network.

MEDASSET acknowledges the following contributions to the production:
The Representation of the European Commission in Greece. The Management of the Schinias-Marathon National Park and Moraitis Sports Club for their hospitality. Kostas Apostolidis and Power Music Productions, Aegean Air, St. George Lycabettus Hotel, Athens Hilton, V.Michelis, Freddy Makeup Stage and Cut my Hair, Kosmocar who squeezed our love for the sea into a Volkswagen Transporter Caravelle and Carpo who made sure our energy levels never faltered!

The campaign is also supported by: ASAP Athens, Alpha Bank, Dolphin Capital Foundation, Athens International Airport, 360, Ally, Do it Eco project, Greek Travel Pages, EcoTourism-Greece, Quality Net Foundation, Capital Link, Αthens Voice, epixeiro.gr,onecon.gr, prasinizo.gr, Skipper OnDeck, econews.gr and Deluxe Magazine.

The campaign “Clean Seas: Swear to Care” is being run under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Tourism, The Greek Tourist Organisation, SETE, SEB Council for Sustainable Development, HATTA and the Central Union of Greek Chambers of Commerce.

This year, through ten simple actions, through showing responsibility and respect for others, we will be keeping our beaches clean and protecting marine life. Are you with us?
